The Amateur Class is a great platform for those who wish to showcase their passion in music and meet other musicians. In this Class, contestants are allowed to choose the music they feel best represents their talent, without having to perform compulsary works.

The contestants have to be at the age of 17 and below (i.e. born on or after May 31st 2008.)
Category A - 6 and below
(i.e. born on or after January 1st, 2019)
Category B - 10 and below
(i.e. born between and inclusive of January 1st, 2015 and December 31st, 2018)
Category C - 14 and below
(i.e. born between and inclusive of January 1st, 2011 and December 31st, 2014)
Category D - 17 and below
(i.e. born between and inclusive of May 31st, 2008 and December 31st, 2010)
*The Amateur Class is open to all nationalities. *Contestants are allowed to participate in only one of the classes: Professional Class or Amateur Class. *Contestants should be non-professional, not playing for fees, signed to an agent or management. *Previous 1st Prize Winners of the SYPC are not eligible to participate in the same age category as the previous participation. *Previous Grand Prize Winners of SYPC Thailand are not eligible to participate. |

In the Preliminary Round, contestants will be required to submit their pre-recorded performance videos.
All contestants are required to participate in this Preliminary Round.
• Contestant must present a maximum of one piece of his/her own choice.
• The duration of the video should not exceed the maximum of 5 minutes.
• The repertoire must be submitted within 15th January 2025 via the Repertoire Submission Form. The contestants will receive the link to the form after their registration is completed.
• Contestants are required to perform the exact same repertoire for further stages of the competition as indicated in the Repertoire Submission Form. Changing of the repertoire is not allowed once the form is submitted.

• The duration of the video should not exceed the maximum of 5 minutes.
• Contestants must perform the repertoire in one continuous take with no pause or stopping. Edits and cuts are not permitted. Post-production handling that affects the acoustic quality of the videos is not permitted.
• Contestants are advised to dress formally and appropriately in the video.
• No one except the contestant is allowed to appear in the video.
• The camera should be static. The view can be either landscape or portrait.
• The contestant's side profile during performance should be visible. The whole piano and any pedals should be in view. See example.
• The recording must be of a good enough quality to allow assessment of all aspects of the performance, including tone quality and dynamic range.
• The video should be one file and must be uploaded to the contestant's available Youtube account with the visibility of the video set as 'Unlisted' and titled as the Contestants’ Competition ID. See 'Video Submission' section for more details.
• The videos submitted to the competition must be used only for this competition. Videos that have been used in other events are not allowed for this competition.
• The SYPC Organizing Committee reserves the rights all recordings and videographs related to the competition. No royalties will be paid to the contestants.

• The instrument being performed in the video must be an acoustic piano, either grand or upright.
• Contestants may record their performance video at any location or facility of their choosing, provided the recording meets the video recording requirements as stipulated under the ‘Video Recording’ tab.
• The SYPC Thailand Organizing Committee has partnered with various institutions to facilitate contestants' recording of their Preliminary Round video. A Steinway-designed Boston Grand GP-193 will be made available at the below listed locations and respective dates for contestants to record their videos.
Recording at the below locations will not influence the Competition Jury’s judgement or decision in any way.

*For booking inquiries and availability, please contact the institutions strictly via the provided contact person only. Contestants are responsible for scheduling with their desired location, arranging their own video recording equipment and covering any associated costs at these venues, if any.
*To ensure the best experience and sound quality, we recommend that contestants arrange for tuning before their own recording session.
*Contestants wishing to have the Boston GP-193 piano tuned at the recording venue must contact Steinway Thailand directly to schedule the tuning by Steinway Thailand's appointed technician. Contestants will be responsible for any related costs.

• The video recording submission can be done between 1st to 31st March 2025.
• The deadline of the video recording submission is 23:59 hours local time, on 31st March 2025.
• The Youtube link of the video recording must be submitted through this Amateur Class Video Submission Form. Contestants are not allowed to re-submit the form with their new recording to replace the one submitted previously.
• The list of round winners who are eligible for the Semi-Finals will be announced on www.steinwaythailand.com.

• All contestants who are not selected to proceed onto the Semi-Finals will receive an Amateur Class Participation Certificate and Medal.
• These will be awarded to the contestants by delivery made to the contestant's address stated in the application form, or collected at the Steinway & Sons showroom at a pre-appointed date and time.

Only a maximum of Eighteen (18) Contestants per age category from the Preliminary Round will be selected to compete in the Semi-Finals Competition. The Semi-Finals Competition will take place on-site.
• Contestants must present two pieces. The repertoire must include the piece that has been performed for the Preliminary Round.
• The duration of the repertoire should not exceed 10 minutes.
• The two pieces can be performed in any order.
• The repertoire must be submitted within 15th January 2025 via the Repertoire Submission Form. The contestants will receive the link to the form after their registration is completed.
• Contestants are required to perform the exact same repertoire for further stages of the competition as indicated in the Repertoire Submission Form. Changing of the repertoire is not allowed once the form is submitted.

• The Semi-Finals competition will take place on 26th May 2025 at Goethe-Institut Thailand (click here for schedule and preparations).
• Contestants should arrive at least 45 minutes before their assigned time.
• Contestants should be in their best performance attire.
• Contestant who plays beyond time limit might be halted by judges, but it will not influence his or her performance result.
• The SYPC Organizing Committee reserves the rights all recordings and videographs related to the competition. No royalties will be paid to the contestants.

• All contestants who are not selected to proceed onto the Finals will receive an Amateur Class Semi-Finalist Certificate and Medal.
• These will be awarded to the contestants by delivery made to the contestant's address stated in the application form, or collected at the Steinway & Sons showroom at a pre-appointed date and time.

Only a maximum of Six (6) Contestants per age category from the Semi-Finals Competition will be selected to compete in the Finals Competition. The Finals Competition will take place on-site.
• Contestants must present three pieces. The repertoire must include all the pieces that have been performed for the Preliminary Round and the Semi-Finals Round. One of the three pieces can be a Sonatina, Prelude, Minuet, Waltz, Etude, or any piece of your choice.
• The duration of the repertoire should not exceed 15 minutes.
• The three pieces can be performed in any order.
• The repertoire must be submitted within 15th January 2025 via the Repertoire Submission Form. The contestants will receive the link to the form after their registration is completed.
• Contestants are required to perform the exact same repertoire for further stages of the competition as indicated in the Repertoire Submission Form. Changing of the repertoire is not allowed once the form is submitted.
• Contestant who plays beyond time limit might be halted by judges, but it will not influence his or her performance result.

• The Finals competition will take place on 29th May 2025 at Goethe-Institut Thailand (click here for schedule and preparations).
• Contestants should arrive at least 45 minutes before their assigned time.

• Top three Finalists in each age category will receive respective trophies and certificates.
• All Finalists will receive an Amateur Class Finalist Certificate and Medal.

Contestants are reminded to always conduct themselves in the spirit of fair competition, failure of which might affect their Competition evaluation.
Contestants are strictly prohibited from receiving any form of guidance including but not limited to private lessons and masterclasses with jury members up till their last date of competition participation.
Contestants are expected to declare any past or present relationship with members of the Jury.
Contestants who are unable to perform at the designated time will have their right to participate in that round forfeited, and thus not entitled to any recognition as a participant of that round.
Evaluations for each round of the competition made by the Jury are final and non-disputable.
Sanctions or Disqualifications might be imposed on contestants found to be in serious breach of the Competition Rules & Regulations, including but not limited to, manipulation of recordings, intent to gain an unfair advantage, and non-disclosure of conflict of interest.
The 7th SYPC Thailand Organizing Committee reserves the right to amend the Rules and Regulations of the competition without prior notice.
The prizes shall be accepted as is and may not be exchanged or transferred.
The Organizer shall assume no liability resulting from losses, delays, mistaken addresses on mail or e-mail received, typographical errors, or any other unintentional mistakes.
The Organizer shall not be liable for any cancellation or alterations to the events due to force majeure circumstances and circumstances beyond control, and for any associated damages and losses.
There will be no refunds once Registrations have been submitted.
The Organizer reserves the right to the interpretation of the Terms and Conditions and Rules and Regulations.
