Previously a student of Steinway Artist Dr. Thomas Hecht, and Dr. Nopanand Chanorathaikul, Thai pianist Pun Punyasavatsut currently studies with Dr. Khoo Hui Ling at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music where he was awarded a full scholarship. He will be performing a solo recital with works from Debussy and Chopin. 

 

Biography

Pun Punyasavatsut (Thailand) was born in 2001 and started piano lessons at the age of 4. In 2019, he was awarded a full scholarship to study at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music where he currently studies Bachelor of Music under the tutelage of Dr Khoo Hui Ling. Prior to 2023, he was a student of renowned American pianist and pedagogue, Dr Thomas Hecht. In his earlier years, he was taught by Dr Nopanand Chanorathaikul and Prof. Rolf-Dieter Arens.

 

In 2021, he was awarded the only Platinum Prize of his category in the Steinway Malaysia Young Concert Artists International Piano Competition. Pun was named the second-place winner in the 2013 International Beethoven Piano Competition and was invited to give a solo recital at the prestigious BeethovenFest in Bonn, Germany. He continues to perform in recitals regularly where he has made most of his appearances in Singapore.

 

Pun also excels in academic fields where his most recent project, 'Transforming Brahms' has been chosen to be featured on the YST Conservatory Student's Presents web page.

 

Pun has had masterclasses with many renowned pianists including Paul Lewis, Stephen Hough, Yoheved Kaplinsky, Arnaldo Cohen, Vanessa Latarche, Fabio Bidini, Ruben Dalibaltayan and Grigory Gruzman.
