william jubin kim

Born in NYC, NY, William is a 12 year old cellist and conductor newly admitted to the Juilliard Pre-College School.

Just recently in 2022, William was awarded the Third Prize at Dotzauer International Cello Competition in Dresden, Germany. He is a laureate of prizes such as the NYS MTA Competition (Honorable Mention for Junior Division), American Protege International Concerto Competition (First Prize), London Young Musician Concerto Competition (Gold Prize & Special Expressive Performance Award & Musician of the Year Finalist), Young Talent Competition (Gold Prize), Music International Grand Prix Junior Strings Competition (First Prize), Beethoven International Music Competition (Second Place), CAI Concerto Competition (Second Place), and the London Classical Music Competition (Second Place). 

William has performed at Carnegie Weil Recital Hall numerous times and was featured as a concert soloist with the Seoul City Philharmonic Orchestra. As a conductor he made his debut last year leading the Kammer Kreis Solisten Strings Orchestra.

His YouTube Channel “Poco Cello” is a platform where he loves to reach out and communicate with his audience around the globe. He resides in NYC enjoying the company of his 3 year old cat, Tabodi, and will be releasing his first album on Spotify this fall.

William has in the past studied with Professor Fred Sherry(Juilliard School) and Professor Ole Akahoshi (Yale University). William participated and performed in the Junior Division of the renowned Heifetz International Music Institute in the cello studios of Julia Lichten and Tommy Mesa. William was enrolled in the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College Program in 2022 and will be studying with professor Amy Barston at the Juilliard Pre-College from this September.

William is invited to perform a solo recital on Aug 20th at AumAree House (https://www.aumareehouse.com/) and on Aug 27th at Neilson Hayes Library (https://neilsonhayslibrary.org) in Bangkok.
