Creating New Music Pathways for Young Performers: A Seminar by David Bruce Place.
Steinway Thailand is hosting a seminar for teachers and parents interested in guiding their students and children toward higher education in music. Presented by David Bruce Place, the session will explore powerful strategies for student musicians to strengthen their profiles and applications when applying to competitive music and arts institutions, schools, and programs.
1) Navigating the global competition in university applications, private schools, and prestigious summer programs.
2) Addressing challenges in university and private school recruitment, music course limitations, the importance of personal USPs, super-curricular music, and outlining common opportunities and next steps to consider.
3) Discussion on effective strategies for student musicians to enhance profiles when applying to competitive music / arts institutions, schools, and programs.
4) Performances by Ms. Tiya Uthaisang (Beethoven and Schumann) and Ms. Manee Lin (Rachmaninoff)
With 30 years experience in music education, David Bruce Place has taught music A’level, GCSE and EPQ to hundreds of students both in the UK and in Thailand. He was Head of Department / Programme Manager of Music at a large sixth form college in Shrewsbury, England for 20 years (from 1996-2017). Under David’s leadership the college’s music programme had one of the largest cohorts of students taking music A’level in the UK. He was also Director of Music at Shrewsbury International School Riverside Bangkok for six years (from 2017-2023) which is one of the premiere international schools for music in the South Asia region.
David is now Managing Director of dbpmusic Co., Ltd. which provides online and in-person tutoring and consulting services for advanced musicians.
