Step into an evening where the spotlight illuminates the beautiful tapestry woven by Broadway classics, the elegance of young voices, and the guiding hand of heartfelt mentorship. "Broadway and Friends" is more than a concert; it's a celebration of music's power to tell stories and connect souls.
Our program opens with the delicate harmonies of Katherine, Jennie, and Marlin in "A Soft Place to Land" from Waitress, setting a stage for vulnerability, wonder, and the courage to dream. From Doris's innocent yearning in "When I Grow Up" from Matilda, a nostalgic echo of childhood, to Katherine's classical grace in Mozart’s "L’ho perduta"we embark on a journey of youthful aspirations and self-discovery.
Pimpa's piano paints a shimmering soundscape in "I See the Light", followed by Sandi's tender "Castle on a Cloud" and Guy's soul-stirring rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" two voices from Les Misérables bridging generations with their expressions of innocence and resilience. Tomoe and Golf then infuse the evening with warmth through beloved melodies from The Sound of Music, stirring feelings of nostalgia and unwavering hope.
The instrumental realm takes flight with Ning's graceful "Little Fairy Waltz," while Namtan's charming "Happy Working Song" from Enchanted sends a wave of joy into the intermission.
The second act unfolds with deeper hues of emotion. Angel's haunting interpretation of "Green Finch and Linnet Bird" from Sweeney Todd and her enchanting duet with Golf in "A Whole New World" offer glimpses into both the shadowed and dazzling facets of Broadway. Pimpa's violin sings with elegance in the "Gavotte," leading to Guy and Namtan's intimate portrayal of connection in "Falling Slowly" from Once.
Marlin's vibrant "Start of Something New" and Jennie's radiant performance of "The World Above" remind us of the bright futures awaiting young artists. Laurie and Ariya then captivate with beautiful piano performances, from the romantic depths of "Pathétique" to the fun energy of "Boogie Woogie."
The finale crescendos with Mariella (Kru Mild) and Kru Tae’s heartfelt rendition of "For Good" from Wicked, a moving tribute to mentorship and the lifelong friendships forged through the very music that unites us all.
Whether you are drawn by the magic of Disney, the drama of Broadway, or the brilliance of classical music, "Broadway and Friends" invites you to open your hearts and celebrate the shared wonder of making music. Thank you for joining us on this special occasion.
