Steinway Thailand, in collaboration with Steinway Malaysia, is proud to present "Choosing Your Competition Repertoire Wisely", a live-streamed piano workshop designed for piano teachers and pedagogues by Steinway Honorary Young Teacher, Jennifer Jiaqi Li. This online workshop will provide tips and keys to success in competitions, introduce a range of pieces suitable for competitions, as well as share insights of a judge’s perspectives.
Jennifer is currently working as a pianist at the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra and is the founder of both the Shenzhen and Hong Kong Jiaqi Educational Consultancy Companies. She is also a Steinway Honorary Young Teacher.
Jennifer earned her Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music (USA) and her Bachelor’s at the Royal Northern College of Music (UK) with first-class honours in 2013 and 2011 respectively. Her teachers include the piano pedagogues Nelita True, Helen Krizos and Max Cooke. Over the years of study, she has been awarded a number of scholarships from various foundations such as the Ian Potter Cultural Trust, the Tallis Foundation and the Musical Society of Victoria (Australia) amongst others.
After having studied abroad for almost a decade, Jennifer Li returned to China in 2013 and has been very active as both a performer and an educator. She represented the ABRSM China Southern Regional office to give seminars in various cities between 2015 and 2017. In September 2017, she was invited to serve as a guest faculty at the Spring Piano School in Melbourne, Australia. She was invited as a judge in a number of competitions such as the Steinway Piano Competition, Hummingbird Music Awards China Youth Music Competition among others.
Jennifer has given many performances across the four continents such as England, USA, Colombia, Australia and China. Her performances have been broadcasted by various radio stations such as Hong Kong radio 4, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) and the 3MBS Classic FM (Australia). She has been invited by several media for interviews and her stories have been published by different newspapers such as The Age in Australia, Zhujiang Times in China. As a chamber musician, Jennifer has collaborated with a number of prominent artists such as Chuanyun Li, Yijie Shi, Sen Guo, Tianwa Yang, Haik Kazazyan, Nanette Chan, Patricia Nagle, Emmanual Normand, Jun Zuo and Jassen Todorov, etc.
Over the years of teaching, Jennifer’s students have received offers from various music colleges such as the Royal Northern College of Music, Chetham’s School of Music, Central Conservatory of Music Middle School, etc..
