Steinway Thailand cordially invites interested pianists, parents and teachers to the next event in our series of activities promoting the 7th Steinway Youth Piano Competition (SYPC) 2025. The event will feature a recital and sharing session by the Grand Prize Winner of the 6th SYPC, Chayapon Chanporn (Kan).

Preliminary information on the 7th Steinway Youth Piano Competition, Thailand 2025 will be announced along with the competition timeline, guidelines, as well as repertoire requirements.

Chayapon Chanporn, known as Kan, is an exceptional young pianist from Thailand, born in 2009, who embarked on a remarkable musical journey at a tender age. His passion for the piano was ignited when he commenced piano lessons at the Yamaha Music School at the age of four. By six years old, he had already begun a more intensive musical path under the guidance of Mr. Sek Thongsuwan. Currently, he is further refining his piano skills under the tutelage of Professor Armen Babakhanian.
 
Kan's musical talents have graced stages both domestically and internationally, capturing the hearts of audiences in various countries including Thailand, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macao, Finland, Germany, Spain, Armenia, and the USA.
 
In 2021, he claimed first prizes in the 2nd Harmonium Online Plus International Piano Competition, the 6th Chopin International Piano Competition Thailand, and the Franz Liszt Center Piano Competition.
 
In 2022, his winning streak persisted with significant triumphs, including the Grand Prize in the 6th Thailand Steinway Youth Piano Competition, the Absolute Prize at the Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition, the Elevato Stanza Junior Piano Competition, the 1st Carl Bechstein Piano Competition for Young Pianists (Thailand), Yamaha Thailand Music Festival 2020, the VII Future Stars International Piano Competition, and the 10th Thailand Mozart International Piano Competition.
 
In 2023, he continued to shine by securing victories at the II Talents International Piano Competition in Spain and the Kasetsart International Piano Competition.
 
In 2024, he showcased his exceptional talent by winning the first prize in Category C (14-17 years old) at the Fujairah International Piano Competition, 5th Edition, held in the Emirate of Fujairah, United Arab Emirates. Additionally, he achieved the 2nd Prize in the Professional Young Artist II Category (15-17 Years old) at the Chicago International Music Competition 2024 in Chicago, United States of Illinois.
 
Kan's extraordinary performances have been cherished by audiences worldwide:

In 2022, he gave piano recitals at prestigious events such as the Archipelago Performing Art Festival Grand Gala in Malaysia and the 6th Steinway Youth Piano Competition in Thailand.

In 2023, he had the honor of performing piano recitals for H.R.H Princess Lea of Belgium during her visit to Thailand, participated in the Music@TCDC Yamaha The Inspiration Show "When the Music Meets Technology" piano recital, and performed Mozart Concerto No. 12 with the Maestoso Chamber Orchestra as part of the Maestoso International Music Festival and Tchaikovsky Concerto No.1 with Kids Philharmonic orchestra Singapore as part of Philharmonic Kinship 2023 at the Permaisuri Zarith Sofiah Opera House.
 
Kan's dedication and prodigious talent extend beyond his performances, manifesting in his educational accomplishments. At a mere 10 years old, he achieved the remarkable feat of passing Piano Grade 8 with distinction from The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. Building on this achievement, he earned Advanced Certificates in Yamaha Piano Grade 5 and Yamaha Fundamentals Grade 5 by the age of 11. Kan's musical journey continues as a music scholar at Norwich International School.
