Steinway Thailand proudly presents an exclusive piano recital by Jure Goručan, a talented Slovenian pianist renowned for his international performances, albums, and partnerships with established artists. Join us in an extraordinary evening as we experience the timeless Goldberg Variations by J. S. Bach, interpreted through the artistry of this acclaimed performer.

 

ABOUT THE PERFORMER

Jure Goručan is a Slovenian pianist and percussionist, born 1992 in Ljubljana. He studied percussion in Ljubljana with Boris Šurbek. As a pianist, he has studied in Cologne, Germany, in classes of Arbo Valdma and Paulo Alvares, currently he’s finessing his craft under guidance of Lilya Zilberstein at MdW University of Vienna in Austria. Goručan has complemented his knowledge with renowned pedagogues such as Ferenc Rados, Dimitry Bashkirov, Milana Chernyavska. He’s regularly giving recitals across Europe and Asia, as a soloist as well as chamber musician. He’s collaborated with prominent orchestras such as the Slovenian Philharmonic, RTV Slovenia Symphony Orchestra, Residenz-Solisten of Munich, Mendelssohn Chamber Orchestra, Zagreb Soloists, Pärnu City Orchestra... In chamber formations, he’s appeared with artists such as Roman Kim, Geza Hosszu-Legocky, Paulo Alvares, Melvyn Tan, Signum Quartett, Alja Mandič, Lyda Chen-Argerich... He attends prestigious festivals like ClaviCologne, Le Printemps du Violon, Festival de Bellerive, Festival Maribor, Triple Bridge and others.

Goručan has recorded four albums and appeared in multiple television broadcasts. With world famous violinist and composer Roman Kim, they’ve recorded their debut album for Sony Classical. His first solo album “Innuendo” was produced by Slovenian PianoRoom, with singer and cultural heritage conservist Ljoba Jenče. He’s freely improvised over Slovenian folk songs on their album “Beautiful Vida”, Latest album with pieces by Prokofiev and Schubert was lately released with flutist Aleksandra Pleterski. His significant concert appearances occurred in the context of multiple tours and given masterclasses throughout China, where he’s also world premiered 2. Piano Sonata of colombian composer Arturo Cuellar at the Central Theatre of Shanghai. In Taipei of Taiwan he’s performed with his longtime musical partner Roman Kim, appeared in Korea with Grammy nominated violinist Geza Hosszu-Legocky, broadcasted by Korean television KBS. In Munich he’s performed Mozart Piano Concertos KV466 in d-minor and KV271 in E-flat Major, Beethoven’s 5th concerto and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue as an artist in residence with the “Bavaria Classic Soloists” at the prestigious venues such as Cuvillies-Theater and Hercules Hall. In North America he debuted with a performance in Toronto, Canada, and has given a masterclass and a concert at the Yamaha Centre in Bangkok, Thailand.

His inspirations and interests span across the spectrum of genres and styles. He attempts to approach music in an interdisciplinary manner from scientific, psychological, mystical and historical perspectives. In his free time he tends to mountain hike and study the mechanics and inner workings of his instrument.
